Loulou & Tummie’s robot space fabric!

We (Loulou & Tummie) printed our own ROBOT & SPACE fabric! Yay!
I’m not sure what we want to do with it yet…  kids clothing…  a line of fabrics… or both! Either way it would be very exciting ٩(●˙▿˙●)۶

I printed one yard of each pattern at Spoonflower to see the print and fabric quality. For the robot fabric I chose the ‘organic cotton interlock knit’ and the space pattern is printed on ‘Kona cotton’. The fabrics feel good and the colors look great but not so sure yet about the overall quality. The color faded a bit at the creases after the first washing and when you stitch it leaves little white holes in the fabric (bigger then normal). Using a very thin jersey needle helps but maybe this is a common problem with this type of printing? I never experienced this before with printed tricot/ jersey fabrics I bought.
Now we’re looking for another company or other techniques for printing fabric to test and it would also be handy if it is a bit closer to home. If you know any, please let us know!

Of course Koko will show off her new robot dress to promote our new patterns ♥
More coming up!

  2. I really love these fabric designs! I remember the red one from the F8 contest 😀
It printed lovely, but the blue one is definitely my favourite. I envy your sewing skills haha. And what a beautiful kid. She is growing so fast 😀

I don’t have much experience with other printing companies. But I know there is a French one and according to a friend who tried it their quality was worse then Spoonflower. The colours were very faded in comparison. There is a Dutch company too, but they are more expensive. I am not sure what their quality is. Haven’t tried them yet because their interface is just too much work for me to upload stuff.

Anyhow, good luck with your search. Maybe try and license them? 🙂

    • Hi Miriam! Thank you 🙂 Great to hear you like the fabric prints and yes she grows fast! I’ve also found some dutch companies and they are very expensive, you have to print a big order, or they don’t sell cotton jersey… :/ So I’m still searching.
